What Does Anxiety Feel Like?

Anxiety can make you feel cut off from the world because you are living in your own head, full of fear and worry. Remember you are not facing anxiety alone

In fact, it’s estimated that almost 40 million Americans 18 and older suffer from anxiety.

Even though it’s highly treatable, only 36.9% of those 40 million actually seek out treatment. That's nearly 1 in 5 adults.

There are many indications of Anxiety. It’s important to recognize them and reach out as soon as you’re able to.

Some of these symptoms include:

  • Excessive worrying or nervousness
  • Inability to fall asleep or stay asleep
  • Agitation and restlessness
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Having a sense of impending doom or danger
  • Sweating, trembling, feeling jittery
  • Sadness and hopelessness

You are not alone

Often, people who suffer from anxiety say, “I can deal with this myself.” You may feel like you’re all alone, misunderstood, and that there’s no one to turn to. This feeling occurs more often than you might realize.

The thought of getting help from a therapist can be daunting. Yet, anxiety therapy can help you learn how to transition from a life where anxiety is omnipresent to a life where anxiety can be minimized. With the support of a therapist, you can learn to manage your anxiety to a level that seems more feasible.

Meet Your Therapist

Hi, I'm Alexandr Philip, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) based right here in Flower Mound. I founded Heavenly Counseling because I believe anxiety treatment should address both your mind and, for those who want it, your faith.

I've walked alongside many clients as they've moved from constant worry and racing thoughts to a place of genuine calm, drawing on proven, evidence-based techniques tailored to what's actually driving your anxiety.

Reaching out isn't a sign of weakness. It's a brave first step, and I'd be honored to take it with you.

Why Is It So Tough To Concentrate Or Stay Awake At Work?

Living with anxiety is like running on an empty tank of gas. Constant irrational thoughts can be draining and cause a general feeling of unrest — even if you manage to get a good night's sleep. When your energy is lost in your mental turmoil, it waters down your emotions and leaves you feeling numb.

Anxiety can stem from sudden life changes such as a new job that requires more hours or finding yourself facing more challenging personal matters.

Do you find yourself unable to focus on a specific task because you keep falling asleep at your home office or work desk? This can occur when the symptoms become bigger than the live event itself. Reaching out is a small step in the right direction to overcoming your anxiety.

The Heavenly Counseling Approach at Treating Anxiety

With the support of a therapist, you can learn to reduce your anxiety to a level that seems more feasible.  We will equip you with specific tools and resources tailored to your needs as we work together to understand the causes behind your anxiety. We draw on proven, evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques to address what's really driving your anxiety.

We will put together a step-by-step plan to help you cope and manage these issues, rather than leaving them to grow and remain unresolved. We can take this brave first step together as early as your first session. We're proud to walk alongside clients throughout Flower Mound and nearby communities including Southlake, Westlake, Roanoke, Trophy Club, and Keller.

How Does Anxiety Counseling help me?

Anxiety counseling can help you feel like you are back in control. Quite often, people who suffer from anxiety feel like they are losing control. One wish my clients feel like they had was a better grasp of how they can control their level of anxiety.

What makes your Anxiety Treatment different from other therapists who offer Anxiety Therapy?

One thing that does make me different when it comes to anxiety therapy is that I do as much as I can to make you feel comfortable. It is super important to create ways to reduce your anxiety. I will come up with relatable examples that allow you to feel more understood.

How many sessions will I need for Anxiety Therapy?

On average most clients complete 24 sessions within the first year. However, because I consider everyone to be unique, the number of sessions could be less or more. I will provide a quarterly plan with your 24 sessions.

What symptoms of anxiety should I look for?

You should be on the look out for signs of uneasiness. Try keeping track of anytime you feel like you are having negative thoughts. Also, note how often you worry about something.
