Therapy Insurance &
Payment
Two Flexible Ways to Pay for Counseling
Cost should never be the reason you put off getting support. At Heavenly Counseling, I accept both insurance and private pay, so you can choose the option that fits your needs, budget, and privacy preferences.
Therapy Insurance Plans I Accept
I am in-network with the following insurance plans for clients in Texas:
- Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Aetna
- UnitedHealthcare / Optum
- Medicare
- Curative
Coverage, copays, and deductibles vary by plan. Before your first session, I recommend calling the member services number on your insurance card and asking about your outpatient mental health benefits. I'm also happy to help you understand your coverage.
Florida clients: Telehealth sessions for Florida residents are private pay.
How to Check Your Therapy Insurance Benefits
Before your first appointment, call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
- Do I have outpatient mental health (behavioral health) benefits?
- Is Alexandr Philip, LPC-S, at Heavenly Counseling in network with my plan?
- What is my copay or coinsurance for an outpatient therapy session?
- Do I have a deductible, and how much of it have I met this year?
- Is prior authorization or a referral required?
- Are telehealth sessions covered the same as in-person sessions?
Write down the date, the representative’s name and a reference number for the call. Knowing how your therapy insurance works ahead of time helps you understand your costs and avoid surprises.

What to Have Ready for Your First Session
If you plan to use your therapy insurance, have your insurance card and a photo ID ready, along with the policyholder’s name and date of birth if the plan is in someone else’s name. If you choose private pay, you can request a superbill to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Every plan is different, so the most reliable answer about your coverage will always come from your insurance company. If anything is still unclear after you call, I am glad to walk through it with you during your free 15-minute consultation. Thank you for trusting Heavenly Counseling with your care.
Private Pay
Many clients choose to pay out of pocket for added privacy, flexibility, and control over their care. With private pay, no diagnosis is required to be shared with an insurance company, and there are no insurer limits on the number or type of sessions. Learn more on my Why Private Pay page.

Out-of-Network Benefits & Superbills
If your insurance isn't listed above, you may still have out-of-network benefits. I can provide a superbill, a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for possible partial reimbursement. Check with your plan about out-of-network mental health coverage.
Insurance vs. Private Pay at a Glance
- Insurance: lower out-of-pocket cost per session for many clients; requires a diagnosis; your plan may set limits on sessions.
- Private pay: greater privacy, no required diagnosis, and treatment shaped entirely around your goals.
- Superbills: a middle path if you have out-of-network benefits.
